We live in a unique society, where we can truly do anything that we set our mind to, even though we may not be able to control all of the outside elements that control our path. So while we may not be labeled to a certain role in life as to be our “destiny” we are in a way driven towards certain fates by the mere element of randomness and the uncertain fate that we live with. Through this idea of being a failure should resonate with all as everyone has experienced failure in one way or another. So something that resonated with me from the TED talk was the idea that no one could ever truly call Hamlet a failure because although he may have been at rock bottom and lost everything he truly cared for he still succeeded in redeeming himself, so in the end his success was found through his failures. Something that may no longer exist in today’s society where a man is no longer remembered for his successes but his failures. This is why if you truly wish to be successful you must first, define the idea of success to yourself, and then once you have done that you must pursue whatever it is you believe will bring it to you and not to worry about what your peers may say or think. This is what defines success within tragedy.
